There are three possible positions in which the exercise can be carried out. The neutral position is the one most commonly used as it is the most relaxing but you can try experimenting with the other positions. Remember, always make sure you are comfortable and relaxed as possible

The Mid Position
Place both hands under your head with the fingers clasped. This position exaggerates the curves of the spine and will impart a stronger motion to the spinal column.

The Neutral Position
Lie with your arms relaxed by your sides at about a 45 degree angle. This positions particularly good letting go of tension and relaxing

The Stretched Back Position
Stretch both arms above your head keeping them as straight as possible. This position puts a stretch through the whole body and can help to relieve muscular tension and discomfort
